SCAM ALERT: WARNING ABOUT BOGUS HAWKS OFFICIALS
MPUMALANGA- The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation would like to warn the community about bogus Hawks officers claiming to be middle managers at the rank of Colonel, attached to the head office of the directorate.
The suspects are targeting civil servants from different government departments providing them with fraudulent documents alleging that a warrant of arrest has been issued against them. They demand to meet with them regarding the ongoing investigation and demand money as gratification to ensure that the non-existent cases are withdrawn against the unsuspecting victims. They usually present a fraudulent warrant of arrest stating charges of Fraud, Maladministration, Nepotism, Theft, etc.
The Hawks warns communities that there are no members of the Hawks who will call or send anyone documents demanding money in order to withdraw charges or make legitimate cases disappear.
Several reports were received where fraudulent letters displaying the Hawks logo were sent to victims purporting to be from the Hawks. The letters contain incorrect and improper writing formats which are not consistent with our official correspondence.
Any person who receives such demands is requested to report the matter to the nearest police station or contact the Hawks directly. An email can be sent to the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation commander, Brigadier Ramakgoakgoa RM on the following email: [email protected] or sent to the Provincial Head, Major General Gerber on this email: [email protected]
