Rest in Peace Mr. Duma Moses Nkosi

Born on 7 June 1957, he served as the mayor of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality from 2001 to 2008. Prior to that he was as a member of Parliament from 1994 to 2001 where he served amongst others as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Minerals and Energy from 1997 to 2001.

Parliament saddened by passing of Mr Duma Moses Nkosi

The Acting Chairperson for the Portfolio Committee on Trade, Industry and Competition, Ms Judy Hermans, expressed her sincere condolences with the passing of the Chairperson of the Committee, Mr Duma Moses Nkosi.

“I am deeply saddened by his untimely death. He was loyal to the country, its people and his political party – the African National Congress. His passing leaves a deep void,” said Ms Hermans. Mr Nkosi passed away yesterday.

Born on 7 June 1957, he served as the mayor of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality from 2001 to 2008. Prior to that he was as a member of Parliament from 1994 to 2001 where he served amongst others as Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Minerals and Energy from 1997 to 2001.

“I think I can speak confidently on behalf of the whole committee, we will truly miss Mr Nkosi’s vibrant engagements and institutional knowledge in our meetings. He was an inclusive and patient chairperson who showed true leadership by accommodating all views irrespective of the political parties members came from. We want to express our deepest condolences to his family, friends and political party. Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.”
