RELEASED: MPUMALANGA MATRIC RESULTS BREAKDOWN
Minister of Basic Education, Angie Motshekga started her statement with the words:
The Class of 2021 will remember their Grade 12 year as one of challenge and triumph. The challenge was coping with the unknowns of new Covid-19 variants and managing its subsequent effects on learning.
The Class of 2021, being the largest group to sit for the Grade 12 NSC examinations since the commencement in 2008, consisted of 897 490 enrolled candidates. 66 756 of the enrolled matriculants came from Mpumalanga. 49 133 of the Mpumalanga matriculants achieved. Bringing Mpumalanga to a pass rate of 73.6%, the lowest it has been in 5 years.

MPUMALANGA TOP STUDENT OF 2021
Angela Mpaka Kgothatso was announced the top matriculant of Mpumalanga.
She attended the Kwanhlanga Secondary School, in a small town in the Thembisile Hani Municipality of Mpumalanga. She achieved 100% in both maths and physical sciences! She has been showered with gifts and rewards, which includes sponsored vehicle and R10 000!

8 Learners in the province obtained 100% pass mark (300 out of 300) for Mathematics.
