Registering occupational injury claims on Comp-Easy makes life easier for employers says Department of Employment and Labour
The Department of Employment and Labour’s Compensation Fund in Limpopo has embarked on a Comp-Easy training in the Bela Bela Municipality Chambers from September 19-22, 2022.
The objective of the workshop is to train Occupational Health and Safety officers on how to use the system to register injuries on duty claims online.
Customer Service Officer Virginia Makhubela said: “This is a quick and reliable method and it speeds up the processing of claims as they are online and are captured once. It benefits organisations in that it lessens the interference from other people which may result in false or over-inflated claims leading to delays. Employers can also consult the Compensation Fund for assistance with the system.”
Makhubela informed the stakeholders that the first important thing to do is to ensure that employees are registered with the compensation fund. This avoid unforeseen injuries or death that might take place at work. Claims for injuries must be submitted within seven days of receiving notice or occupational disease on duty within 14 days as soon as being notified.
“This initiative will assist in the speedy approval of claims. In this case, the Fund will respond within five working days to acknowledge and address all the outstanding issues. Those who are injured will not experience any delays in payment or settling the payment of medication, surgery, hospital stay and transportation,” Makhubela continued.
She indicated that since the system was launched, it has authorised more than 10 000 compensation benefits per quarter.
The process of registering claims on Comp-Easy is as follows:
1. Search for eCOID- Compensation Made Easy-click on online user registration
2. Key in ID number – after clicking on the “Get individual button”, complete the contract details and submit
3. Once the details have been submitted, the client will receive their login credentials
4. Register as a User
5. Click on external user registration
6. Complete the user registration form
7. Attach all required documents
8. Submit for approval
Makhubela assured OHS Officers of the flexibility of the system and that they will know how to use the system before the end of the training.
