Kriel copper thief fined by Ga-Nala District Court
The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela has applauded the Ga-Nala District Court after Godfrey Mnisi (59) was given a fine of R5000, yesterday, 11 January 2022, after being found guilty for possession of stolen copper cables.
The court heard that on 27 September 2021, police received information that a Ford Ranger bakkie which was transporting copper cables from Van Dyk to Kriel and immediately attended to the matter. They then spotted the said vehicle moments later and signaled for it to stop. Upon searching it they found 03 bundles of copper bars, which the driver (Mnisi) admitted were stolen at the mine. He was swiftly arrested thereafter.
The Provincial Commissioner has applauded the alertness of the police officers as well as the good work done by the Prosecution team.
